NYFW Nails Fall 2016: China Glaze at Alice + Olivia

By semick

This coming fall, the ’70s is the decade for those that fetishize retro fashion, and Alice + Olivia designer Stacey Bendet presents a collection that the modern woman who vibes on the free-fall feel of that era (think: hazy nights at the disco) will certainly want to wear. The accompanying nails echo “that ’70s wave; you know—it looks like those wavy designs you see on the sides of roller rinks,” says China Glaze Lead Manicurist Miss Pop. She’s crafting a “far-out” negative-space arc, using French tip guides to act as masks. After applying the guides at an angle, she paints two coats of China Glaze Meet Me in the Mirage, a dusty rose gold, over top, and then removes the guides to reveal the naked arch. “This is the rose gold. It looks great on every skin tone. And it’s going to be a big shade for fall!” Miss Pop predicts. —Karie L. Frost
