Frosso from Lacquer Me Silly shares helpful nail art tips to perfecting polka dot and stripes.

Polka dot and stripe manicures are two of the more basic techniques in nail art, but it doesn’t mean that they aren’t easy to mess up. I’ve had plenty of frustrating moments and still do. Here are a few tips to keep in mind that I’ve learned from my own mistakes and advice given to me from others.

Products used:
1.    Priti NYC City Girl Rose
2.    Priti NYC Hedgehog Rose
3.    Striping tape
4.    Out The Door top coat

TIPS:
    o Precut your strips.
o Use tweezers when applying and removing for easier handling.
o Be sure your base color is COMPLETELY dry before applying any tape otherwise the tape will pull up the base when removing.

Products used:
1.    Priti NYC Baby Blue Eyes
2.    Priti NYC Hedgehog Rose
3.    Dotting tools
4.    Out The Door top coat

Dots

TIPS:
o Practice creating dots on a disposable surface to get a feel for the size each dotting tool will create. Also play around with color combinations.
o Since the dots of polish may be thick give it extra dry time before applying a topcoat.
o Don’t fret if you make a mistake, dots can be as random as you want.

TOP COAT TIPS

• When applying a top coat on any nail art, make sure your brush has a good amount of polish on it so it will easily transfer to the nail without having to put any pressure on the brush. Avoid going over the same area more than once. This will help avoid any dragging.
• Apply a top coat over your base color before applying any nail art. This will provide a safeguard allowing you to wipe away small mistakes without removing the base color.
