Nail Design How To: Three Ways to Rock the Textured Trend

Hello everyone!!

My name is Cristina and I come from Let them have Polish! I am so excited to be sharing this post with you today. Since all of the new textured polishes started coming out, I’ve been obsessed with incorporating them into different nail art looks. Most of these textured polishes are beautiful on their own. Just look at Zoya’s Summer PixieDust collection, JulieG’s Frosted Gumdrops or OPI’s Liquid Sand Bond Girls Collection – they are truly stunning. But what if you brought them together? Or mixed them with cremes to create mixed texture looks? In this post I will be sharing three different looks. One look with a classic twist, one with a bit of flash and one for the girls who just cannot get into the textured trend, but may still want to try something a little different.

I hope you guys enjoyed these looks and gave you some ideas of how to incorporate your pretty new textures into your everyday looks. These are also some quick and easy ways to update any existing manicure you may not be ready to part with just yet. I’d love for you guys to share your nail art looks with me on Instagram using the hashtag #OfficialLetThemHavePolish. How do you wear your textures? LTHP wants to know, so show your tips off!!

  • The Classic

For this simple look I started with a base of LVX Nail Color in Indigo Bleu. This is a truly spectacular shade of deep Indigo-Violet creme. To add a funky twist to a classic look, I went with textured half-moons. For the textured portion I used JulieG Frosted Gumdrop in Crushed Candy. Layering this textured polish over the deep Violet really sets off the sparkle in the textured polish. The contrast between the textured sparkle and the smooth half-moon is really interesting and gives an unexpected twist to a simple look.

  • The Flashy

For this look I wanted to do something very tropical, sparkly and flashy. I also wanted to try my hand at a textured gradient, which was so requested by my lovely readers. The Green creme base color is Zoya Josie from one of Zoya's newest Summer collections, Stunning. On my middle nail I used Zoya PixiDust in Destiny as a base. To create the sparkling textured tips over Josie I used a bit of porous sponge dipped into Zoya Solange from the Zoya Summer Pixi3Dust. Lightly bounced the sponge over the tip of your nail until you are happy with how it looks. I also sponged a bit of Solange over Destiny. To really bring a tropical drink feel to my middle nail I added just a tiny bit of Zoya Chyna from their Spring PixieDust Collection to the very tip of my middle nail. The PixieDusts really do make beautiful, effortless gradients.

  • The Playful

In this collection Cult Nails released three new "wax" finish shades. These colors are not quite matte, not quite shiny. They have such superb application and an overall neat finish. Plus? It is smooth, no textures to pick at. This look features four of the colors released in this collection. From index to pinkie my bases are: Ay Poppy!, Kiss my Rose Bush, Morning Glory and You're my Dandylion. For the overall look I was inspired the the concept of the polka dot bikini and light Summery fun. Ay Poppy! and You're My Dandy Lion are shiny creme finishes, so I kept them as such. To give this look a little mixed-finish twist I then used Kiss my Rose Bush and Morning Glory which are wax finish polishes.
