12.19.13

By James

With Christmas approaching, don’t leave out the final detail: reindeer nails! Eva of Flight of Whimsy shows you how to do the same cute nails in this tutorial.

  • Supplies Needed:

    SLIDE 1 OF 10
  • Step 1:

Begin with your favorite base coat. Once dry, add two coats of Paint Shop Polish Dancer.

    SLIDE 2 OF 10
  • Step 2:

Once the base color is dry, add a semicircle of Louise to the free edge of your nail. This can be done using the polish brush. Again using the polish brush, add a smaller semicircle on top. The first semicircle should extend to the bottom third of your nail, while the second semicircle should reach about 2/3 of the way up the nail.

  • Step 3:

Using a small nail art brush and Black on Black, outline the bottom semicircle. Then outline the top semicircle.

  • Step 3:

Using a small nail art brush and Black on Black, outline the bottom semicircle. Then outline the top semicircle.

  • Step 4:

Using your dotting tool, dot on two white ovals using Purity in the top semicircle. Wipe off the dotting tool, and add an oval in Red for the nose at the base of the lower semicircle.

Note: If you prefer to make a reindeer other than Rudolph, use black polish for the nose, rather than red!

  • Step 5:

Using Black on Black, add dots to the center of the eyes. Then add two straight lines using the small nail art brush. The lines should start on either side of the reindeer’s head and extend off the end of the nail toward the cuticle. Add 2-4 smaller lines off each original line, to become the antlers.

  • Step 6:

Clean the cuticle with acetone, and add top coat. For a snowy manicure, you can create drips using white polish on your other nails with a dotting tool and some white polish. Enjoy!
