Nail Art Tutorial: Christmas Light Nails

12.17.13

By James

You may have already added Christmas lights to your house, but now it’s time to prep your nails! Add festive decor to your digits with this tutorial by Galactic Lacquer

  • Supplies needed:

    • OPI Nail Envy base coat
    • Zoya Purity
    • Seche Vite top coat
    • Teardrop-shaped rhinestones
    • Green thread or string
    • Scissors (small beauty or precision scissors work best!)
    • Tweezers (for placing rhinestones and thread)

    SLIDE 1 OF 7
  • Step 1:

Begin by properly prepping your nails. File nails, apply cuticle oil, and also a base coat before doing any nail art!

    SLIDE 2 OF 7
  • Step 2:

Apply one coat of your favorite white nail polish, like Zoya Purity.

    SLIDE 3 OF 7
  • Step 3:

If you haven’t already or are waiting for your first coat of polish to dry, separate the rhinestones and pieces of thread you will be using. You'll need five rhinestones of each color (four colors) and to cut 10 pieces of string about half an inch to an inch long each.

    SLIDE 4 OF 7
  • Step 4:

Paint a generous second coat of white polish on one nail. While the polish is wet, carefully place your thread directly into it with the tweezers. Then carefully place each rhinestone along the thread. Do one nail at a time so the polish doesn’t dry before you get to each nail!

  • Step 5:

After you’ve completed every nail, you can nip off the extra thread with your scissors and clean up any polish around the nail.

    SLIDE 6 OF 7
  • Step 6:

Apply top coat to seal in the rhinestones and thread so they last longer!
