Nail Art Tutorial: Birch Tree Nails

12.02.13

By James

Don’t be a birch. Instead, put them on your nails. If you’re ready to start painting this mysterious landscape, click through to see the whole tutorial for these by Eva from Flight of Whimsy

  • Supplies Needed:

    • Zoya Louise
    • Zoya Purity
    • Sinful Colors Black on Black
    • Zoya Thandie
    • Base coat and top coat
    • Thin nail art brush
    • Acetone for clean up

    SLIDE 1 OF 6
  • Step 1:

Begin with your favorite base coat, followed by two coats of Zoya Louise.

    SLIDE 2 OF 6
  • Step 2:

With your thin nail art brush, add vertical lines using Zoya Purity. The lines can vary in width to make the tree trunks larger or smaller.

    SLIDE 3 OF 6
  • Step 3:

Using the thin nail art brush and Zoya Purity, add small white lines branches off the trunk. For a cleaner look, use fewer branches.

    SLIDE 4 OF 6
  • Step 4:

Place a tiny amount of Sinful Colors Black on Black onto your nail art brush, and paint tiny black lines along the trunks of the trees. Add black shadowing under the branches as well. Note: The black can easily overwhelm the white of the trees, so experiment using small amounts of polish before applying it onto your nails!

    SLIDE 5 OF 6
  • Step 5:

Paint small leaves onto your nails using Zoya Thandie. This can be done using a nail art brush or a dotting tool, if you prefer circular leaves. Clean around your cuticles with acetone, add top coat, and you are done!
