Nail Art How To: Vintage Fall Marble Nails

Nail Art How To: Vintage Fall Marble Nails

09.17.13

By niwp_admin
  • INTRODUCTION

Easily spice up your nails with a water marble design for fall! Both the color palette and the waves of this particular marble have a retro feel that will take you back in time to autumns of the 1970s. Water marbles can be changed up with a simple swish of your finger in the water: a different motion can create stripes, petals, or fingerprint-like swirls. See step-by-step how Margaret did this specific pattern.

    SLIDE 1 OF 12
  • TOOLS

    Supplies Needed:

    Cup with filtered water
    Small dotting tool
    Masking tape
    Avon Saturn
    Avon Celestial
    Pure Ice Vintage Glam

    SLIDE 2 OF 12
  • STEP 1

Start by painting your nails with one coat of yellow polish.

    SLIDE 3 OF 12
  • STEP 2

Tape around all your fingers to keep the mess minimal.

    SLIDE 4 OF 12
  • STEP 3

Then open all the polishes and quickly drop one drop of each in the water to create a bullseye effect in whichever order you'd like the colors.

    SLIDE 5 OF 12
  • STEP 4

Draw a line into the center of the bullseye with your small dotting tool. Just drag across the surface gently.

    SLIDE 6 OF 12
  • STEP 5

Keep dragging into the center of the bullseye until you get these petal shapes.

    SLIDE 7 OF 12
  • STEP 6

Then line your nail up over the design. You want to use the petal shapes in all three of the colors, so line up your finger across the petals.

    SLIDE 8 OF 12
  • STEP 7

Dunk your finger in the design and leave it there momentarily.

    SLIDE 9 OF 12
  • STEP 8

Clean up the excess polish with your dotting tool so you don't mess up the design on your nail.

    SLIDE 10 OF 12
  • STEP 9

Take your nail out of the water and check out your design!

    SLIDE 11 OF 12
  • STEP 10

Remove the tape, clean up the edges, and apply your favorite top coat. Enjoy your fall marbled nails!
