As fall approaches, we love to see the shift from pale hues to warm, autumnal colors — just like the gradient on these nails! Diane of Polish Sickness illustrates step-by-step how she did these brilliant striped tips using an opaque white from Sally Hansen and vibrant Barielle lacquers.

  • SUPPLIES NEEDED

    • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure White Out
    • Barielle Peach Popsicle and Berry Go Round
    • Striping tape
    • Sponge
    • Polish remover
    • Angled eyeliner brush
    • Seche Vite Top Coat
    SLIDE 1 OF 6
  • STEP 1

Paint nails with two coats of Sally Hansen White Out and then apply top coat.

    SLIDE 2 OF 6
  • STEP 2

After the top coat is completely dry, cut strips of striping tape and place them on nails as shown.

    SLIDE 3 OF 6
  • STEP 3

Paint a sponge with stripes of the three colors. A make up sponge is the best type of sponge for this step.

    SLIDE 4 OF 6
  • STEP 4

Stamp the nail with the sponge in a careful, rocking motion. While the polish is still wet, slowly pull the strips of striping tape off of the nail. Do this after each stamping, before starting the next nail.

  • STEP 5

When the polish is dry, apply two layers of top coatAfter the top coat dries, use an angled eyeliner brush and polish remover to clean up around the cuticles. Done!
