Nail Art How To: Houndstooth Nails

Nail Art How To: Houndstooth Nails

By James

We bundle up in all sorts of fabrics in the fall and winter, so why not match our nails to those prints? For those wondering just how to translate fabric patterns to polish, Kelsie’s Nail Files shows just how to do it. Click through to see her step-by-step process.

  • Supplies Needed:

  • Step 1:

Start with a base coat, one coat of Finger Paints Paper Mache.

  • Step 2:

Using a sponge, create a gradient with Barry M Cyan Blue polish.

  • Step 3:

Using a medium nail art brush, paint evenly spaced black squares with China Glaze Liquid Leather. The squares do not have to be perfect, but you could always use striping tape instead of free-handing them.

  • Step 4:

Paint a small 'V' on the bottom left corner of every square. Make sure it's the same corner of each square.

  • Step 5:

Finally, paint diagonal lines attached to two other corners. Done!
