By James

There’s no better gift than that silent awe of friends and family when you tell them you painted your slick new manicure yourself. So if you’re looking to impress with DIY nails that look straight from the salon, try this take on herringbone by Diane of Polish Sickness. Get the look yourself with her tutorial!

  • Supplies needed:

    • Striping tape
    • Nail art brush
    • Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Black Heart
    • Studio M Magic Attraction
    • Seche Vite
    • Nail polish remover

  • Step 1:

Paint two coats of Studio M Magic Attraction glitter polish. Apply top coat.

  • Step 2:

Place striping tape across nails as shown, to make a herringbone pattern.

  • Step 3:

Paint over taped nails with black Sally Hansen Black Heart.

  • Step 4:

Gently peel off each piece of tape while the polish is still wet. Apply Seche Vite top coat and clean up any stray polish with nail polish remover and brush.
