CyberLink Corp., in cooperation with Perfect Corp., launched MakeupDirector, a new and interactive program designed to augment the workflow of makeup artists and enthusiasts. Learn more about the exciting technology behind virtual beauty and how MakeupDirector can help beauty professionals.
CyberLink Launches Exciting Program for Makeup Artists and Enthusiasts
We’ve come a long way from the early days of virtual makeup. Since the launch of L’Oreal’s “Genius” makeup simulator, makeup simulation via desktop or mobile has become a lot more specialized, advanced and most importantly, realistic. The latest in virtual makeup not only looks real but can be used to augment the workflow of makeup artists or enthusiasts. MakeupDirector by CyberLink is a virtual makeup simulator that applies an extensive selection of makeup looks to faces in photos using pixel-perfect facial mapping that captures more than 100 facial feature points, offers advanced retouching options and, in what is the program’s best feature (in our humble opinion), is integrated with Beauty Circle, an online community where users upload their work and draw inspiration from others.
According to Dr. Jau Huang, CEO of CyberLink, “The key to effective digital makeup is realism–it has to look 100 percent natural. MakeupDirector’s unique technology and world-class design team developed a digital makeup toolkit enabling virtual application that is indistinguishable from the real thing.”
The idea behind MakeupDirector is to improve consultations between makeup artist and client by providing MUAs the opportunity to try a multitude of looks on a client without spending time, money or product. This ability promises to not only strengthen client/professional relations but increase customer satisfaction. For artists, the best part is “the ability to not only browse and download thousands of complete makeup designs from Beauty Circle, but also to upload their own look designs to inspire others,” says Alice H. Chang, CEO of Perfect Corp.
MakeupDirector retails at $49.95 but users who sign up to Perfect Corp through YouCam Makeup or Beauty Circle can download the program for free. For more information, visit CyberLink.
With more programs being built to help beauty professionals, we wonder if someone will design a program allowing nail artists to “try” various looks as well as find inspiration for new ones. We can still dream…
