Safiyah from Frootibeauty.com shares behind-the-scenes tips from her summer themed beauty shoot. Bright pinks and reds were applied to the lips, while nails either complimented lips or displayed sailor-inspired stripes to reflect the mood of sun and sea.
The pink simple high-shine manicure was inspired by Safiyah’s summery bold pink lips makeup look. Instead of the matte trend, the corresponding juicy glossed lips added volume, leaving the rest of the face muted with only subtle highlighting.
Safiyah says, “We also played on the ombre theme, but sticking to the bright pink lips and adding a touch of gold glitter to the inside of the lips to add some sparkle.”

Nail Artist Lynette Appie shares, “Any and everything is inspiration to me when it comes to creating nail art. This particular design is inspired by fashion of the 60’s and style icon Twiggy. Monochrome is bang on trend and stripes give the illusion of longer nails with the likes of music celebrities such Rita Ora rocking these edgy nail looks.”

The design is pretty simple when it comes to technique as it was done free hand. All you need is a steady hand and a nail art striper to create the crisp lines as the design is made up of parallel lines. You may also use a nail art tape to create the lines.
