Editorial manicurist (oh, and guru behind polish brand JINsoon) Jin Soon Choi and designer Tamara Taichman of Tila March made the perfect team in dreaming up the brand new JINsoon Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Every lacquer in the set matches a handbag in the spring series from Tila March.
Tila March bags usually come in very neutral, classic colors and shapes – but just for this season, Taichman opted to mix things up by introducing clear bags with brightly colored straps and accents. Which was perfect for the collaboration between the two big names – as a whole spring collection of nail lacquer in grays, taupe, and leathery browns would be a little unsatisfying.
However, the next challenge was pulling off fashion-forward nail designs to showcase the new polishes. With bright colors and nail art, the challenge is always finding the balance between bold and juvenile – but of course, Choi knew the way to keep it all classy – with colorblocking and negative space. When we had the opportunity to meet the nail artist in person in L.A., she showed us her spring lookbook of styles using the new lacquers (we’ve sprinkled them throughout this post). It’s crazy how easy some of these are to do! Choi said you can score the following look by striping your polish on, then swabbing away lacquer from the sides with a Q-tip. Genius.
