If you are seeking a polish that will add some spice – it’s gotta be Laquerlicious. The indie’s creator, Michelle Neasbitt, puts almost as much glitter as dedication into each and every shade. To see what makes her brand unique, we talked to her one-on-one.

Us: What’s your “day job”?
Michelle: I’ve been a licensed nail tech for 20 years and I’m also a salon owner.

How long have you been making your own polish?
2 years

How did you begin?
I was adding the chunkier glitter in acrylic for clients/myself for years and knew I wanted to somehow make it into polish form. When I added it to clear polish, it sank and was a pain to get it to shake back up after settling. I began researching and found out there is actually a name (indie polish) and a few places offered supplies! I dove in feet first by ordering bulk supplies and the rest is history!

What makes your line of lacquers unique?
My passion for pit bulls!! I’m a HUGE pit bull/bully breed advocate. I have a “Polish For Pit Bulls” collection where I donate 75% of sales to Fresno Bully Rescue in Fresno, California.

Do any of your polishes have a totally different look layered over a colored base?
You can make “jelly sandwiches” with any of my glitter bombs. You take a jelly polish and sandwich one of my glitter bombs in between. E.g.: 1 coat of a jelly polish, 1 coat of a glitter bomb, 1 coat of the same jelly polish, top coat. Voilà! A gorgeous jelly sandwich!

Is there a story behind your brand’s name?
I purposely left the “c” out before the “q”. I figured if people needed a double take or to question if it was a mistake or on purpose it would be in their mind, therefore making them remember my brand

What’s the inspiration behind your lacquer colors?
I love the changing seasons. They inspire me the most! Pastels for spring, neons for summer, browns/grays/oranges for fall and red/berries/blues for winter. I also LOVE holiday collections.

What is your best seller right now?
My 3 neon glitter toppers: Beat The HeatAt The Lake and Lemon Limeade (pictured at very top)! You can layer them over complimenting colors, blend all 3 for a beautiful gradient or if carefully applied they can be worn alone! So fun and versatile!

What is your favorite polish you’ve ever created?
So many to chose from! I’d have to say Lady Liberty. My nail BFF Gaby (@lacquerloon via Instagram) named it for me, so it’s a super special polish!

Other than your own, what’s your favorite brand of polish to use?
China Glaze and Zoya

What’s one tip you wished you knew when you started your own indie line?
I’d say how much space I’d actually need to work comfortably! I currently have a good sized office with tons of storage but I could definitely use another whole room with more storage!

Any spoilers you’d like to share about your future collections?
Stay tuned for another “Polish For Pit Bulls” collaboration!
