Yuin Ying of is the maker behind F.U.N Lacquer, which, if you haven’t heard, stands for Fabulously Unique Nail Lacquer. We find out why in our interview with her below!
Us: How long have you been making your own polish?
Yuin: I have my 1st collection launched on September 20th, 2013 and I have been experimenting with polishes since May 2013.
What’s your “day job”?
I’m full time at F.U.N Lacquer 😀
How did you begin creating your own polishes?
It started as a hobby and I bought a lot of indie polishes for swatching. After a period of time, I found this unique way to express my passion towards nail polish!
What makes your line of lacquers unique?
My mission is to create fabulous and unique nail lacquer and therefore I took a lot of time researching and perfecting each polish before I release them 🙂
Do any of your polishes have a totally different look layered over a colored base?
I have yet to create color shifting topper but I found many of them in the market. I do have a holographic topper named Diamond. And the glow version named Glow Diamond.
Is there a story behind your brand’s name?
I took a lot of time to brainstorm for the name and finally I got inspired by the musician/band named Fun. I wished to bring FUN to everyone with my nail polish.
What’s the inspiration behind your lacquer colors?
I took references and sought ideas from the seasons, festivals, and trends at the point in time. The inspiration comes from everywhere and at anytime. It could be a movie, a song, a picture or any scenic views.
What is your best seller right now?
Icy Snow. A blue thermal polish with color shifting shimmer (blue/violet)
And Purfect For Me – a purple/pink/white trio thermal polish with silver flakes and color shifting shimmer (lavender/red)
What is your favorite polish you’ve ever created?
Actually I love them all but if I have to choose one, I’ll pick Icy Snow 🙂 Icy Snow has become the first permanent shade in store.
Other than your own, what’s your favorite brand of polish to use?
Mainstream brand – OPI
