This may not be news for the diehard indie lacquer lovers, but if you’ve recently embraced your holosexuality like we have, this is for you. We chatted with Jill Rehm-Craine, Sarah and Missi, leading ladies behind The Holo Hookup to find out why three indie popular polish brands teamed up to offer exclusive holographic nail shades direct to the consumer.
Nail It: What is the Holo Hookup?
Holo Hookup: The Holo Hookup is a monthly, all holographic, limited-edition box, featuring four exclusive holographic polishes. The box is available by pre-order only on our site. The Holo Hookup pre-order dates and times are always the 21st at 9 PM EST through the 28th at 9 PM EST of each month. Each month features a unique theme and guest maker, as well as the three core brands.
NI: How did the Holo Hookup get created?
HH: The Holo Hookup is the brainchild of Jill from Glisten & Glow, Missi from Different Dimension and Sara from Cupcake Polish. After many years of being involved in multiple nail polish subscription boxes, we felt that there was a missing component in the nail polish world—An all holographic box was just what the market needed!
NI: Why do you think holo polish is so trendy?
HH: The marketplace was lacking diversity in the special effects nail polish category. Holographic polishes filled that void and provided the special effects of brilliant, prismatic rainbows on the wearer’s nails that always capture people’s attention!
NI: What brands are involved in the Holo Hookup?
HH: The three core monthly brands consist of founders, Glisten & Glow, Different Dimension, and Cupcake Polish. Every month features a new and exciting guest maker. The Holo Hookup has featured domestic brands such as: Takko Lacquer, Fair Maiden Polish, Vapid Lacquer, Painted Polish, Nvr Enuff Polish, Colores de Carol and Darling Diva Polish. We have also featured international brands such as Emily de Molly, Powder Perfect and F.U.N Lacquer. Some of our upcoming month’s feature brands such as Ever After Polish, Cadillacquer, Delush Polish and Tonic Polish.
Here, a roundup of collages that show off the seven most popular sets sold since the fall of 2015.
The Holo Hookup is available for $40 on their site.
