Get the Nail Look: Deborah Lippmann’s Simple, Elegant Design for VPL
Deborah Lippmann’s design for the VPL show at Mercedes Benz-New York Fashion Week was simple, totally on-trend (lines are in!), and is totally translatable for the at-home DIYer!
For the sophisticated look, Deborah Lippmann used her own Modern Love, a “modern” mauve, as her base, and Stormy Weather – a color she created for Narciso Rodriguez in 2011 – as the accent.
Here’s how to get the look!
• Apply one coat of base coat. I used Milani Nail Treatment Base Coat.
• Apply two coats of Deborah Lippmann Modern Love, or a similar dusty, neutral mauve shade. I mixed Zoya Jana and Kendal in a small palette for my base.
• Take a small, thin nail art brush (I used one from MASH, found on Amazon.com), and dip it into Stormy Weather (or another dark grey). Start your line from ¾ of the way down the nail, along the edge close to the cuticle, on one side of the nail bed. Deborah did one side for the thumb and the opposite side for the other four fingers, on each hand. I did the same side on each nail.
Take the line up to your tip, and around, to stop just after it rounds the other side of the nail.
