Put your handpainting skills to the test with this delicious and sweet peppermint candy nail design. Follow these steps by Britney Tokyo for the how-to.
1. Prep the nail and apply base coat. Apply two coats of white polish.
2. Use wax paper as your palette and mix together a small amount of creamy red polish and red glitter polish. Use a striping brush to paint tiny dots around the perimeter of the nail using a clock as a visual reference: Paint dots at 3 and 9 o’clock, and then add four more at 11, 1, 5 and 7 o’clock. This will leave you with seven dots total to act as a guide.
3. Use a striping brush to paint a line connecting the center dot to the 9 o’clock dot. Extend the line to 10 o’clock (the midway point between both dots) and, from that point, draw a downward sloping line back to the center dot. Fill it with your custom polish.
4. Repeat by drawing a connecting line from the center to 11, 1, 3, 5 and 7 o’clock, extending the line to the midway point, bringing back in a downward sloping curve to the center, and filling in the spaces. Repeat this until the entire nail has been covered.
5. Seal with top coat.
