Nail artist Riddhi of Instagram @riddhisn may have started painting nails as a hobby, but her talent exceeds that of even some of the best-trained professionals. We had the opportunity to ask her a few questions about herself and her experience creating tiny works of art.
What got you into nail art?
Seven months back, I chanced upon a nail sticker with colorful dot designs at my favorite cosmetic shop and tried it out. The next day I visited the same shop, collected a couple of polishes and began my first nail art with a toothpick by copying the sticker!
How long have you been posting your photos of nail art on Instagram and how did it start?
I posted my first nail art photo on Instagram in October of last year as I already had an account but had not used it until then.
What has been your favorite part about it?
Learning the various techniques of nail art from so many talented nail artists on Instagram. The experience is overwhelming.
Do you work mostly with polish or acrylic paint?
I bought my first box of acrylic paints couple of months back and only used them in 9 nail arts. I work mostly with nail polishes and prefer painting faces and very intricate designs with acrylic paints.
Did you have experience with painting and/or art before you began creating masterpieces on nails?
I always loved painting as a child but over the busy years my skills got rusty only to be revived and refined through nail art.
What do your friends and family say about your blog and your following online?
Both my family and friends are always encouraging me and appreciating my nail art. They are extremely thrilled to know so many nail art enthusiasts are following me online.
What is your absolute favorite color of polish?
I love Golden Eye from OPI and any gold shade is always my pick! I also love white as it serve as a great base for nail art.
Which celebrity’s nails would you jump at the chance to design?
Katy Perry, as I found her sporting some seriously impressive nail arts many times!
What is your favorite nail trend?
Effects! Shatter, crackle, snake, crocodile, and the list of effects keeps growing every day! More effects will be in demand by fashionistas.
What else would you be doing if you hadn’t ended up getting into nail art?
I love movies and would have happily blogged on the subject.
What is your favorite beauty tool or nail art tool?
A thin brush. I love doing my eyes and I always use it for drawing lines be it gel or liquid.
What is your favorite nail design you’ve done? How did you come up with it?
My favorite nail design is a nail art showing few architectures in form of monument, towers and pyramid. I love traveling and planned a set of places I [want to visit].
