Meet Jenny Pasha, the blogger behind 10 Blank Canvases!
How did you get into nail art?
I have always painted my nails growing up and loved to change my nail colour almost every day! Just over a year ago I started experimenting with drawing some simple designs on my nails using sharpies and then found that there was endless new ways to decorate my nails. I started experimenting with different mediums and more elaborate designs and found my eye for detail and patience was perfect for creating little masterpieces on my nails!
What is your favorite color of polish?
I love sapphire blues on my nails. My two favourite polishes are Essie Aruba Blue and OPI DS Magic.
Which celebrity’s nails would you jump at the chance to design?
There are lots of celebrities who are wearing unique nail art at the moment. I would love to do someone like Rihanna, Zooey Deschanel or Beyonce as they would be open to having something crazy on their nails and they would be so much fun to work with.
What’s your favorite nail trend?
I have a few ‘go to’ nail art designs that I use more often than any other pattern. One is a black and gold mix ‘n’ match with plenty of studs! The other is a glittery galaxy, which combines all my favourite colours: black, purple and blue —and looks great on nails.
What is your favorite current beauty trend?
Other than having crazy designs on my nails I keep the rest of my beauty regime pretty simple. I admire some of the stunning eyeshadow designs I have seen with bright colours blended to create an ombre look over the eyes.
Favorite beauty product?
I keep my makeup pretty simple but my favourite product I use is Bobbi Brown’s long wear eyeliner gel. Other than that it’s all about nail polishes with the majority of my collection coming from Nails Inc.
What is the biggest beauty/nail mistake that you are seeing right now?
The thing that annoys me when looking at peoples nails are messy cuticles! I am a perfectionist, so having nice looking cuticles and nails is half of what makes nice nail art. When someone takes care and time to do a design and doesn’t clean up around the edges it just seems a shame as it ruins the look of the nails.
Do you have any other hobbies?
Not really! Between working, keeping up with my blog, painting my nails and seeing friends I don’t really have any time to do much else!
What is your most outrageous or favorite nail design that you created?
The design that took me the longest to do (a couple of hours per nail) would be my art masterpieces nails. I recreated 10 famous pieces of art on a set of false nails. I also did the idea again and recreated some modern art pieces painted directly on my nails (both hands). I love both these sets; perhaps the second more than the first as I chose pieces of art that I really love. That was probably the only time I have ever minded taking a design off my nails!
Do you have a favorite musician or band. What design would you like to put on their nails?
My favourite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don’t think they would particularity like any nail art, but for the release of their 10th album I created a set of nails with their album artwork on each nail! If I had to choose a female musician, I really love Emeli Sande at the moment and I would do her nails with dark colours, perhaps, black and deep red with an intricate black lace or gold baroque pattern.
What are your trend predictions for 2013?
In terms of nail art I think people will be a lot more adventurous in 2013. As winter ends pastel nails will be the colour to wear with light blues and purples being popular choices. In terms of nail art I think we will see more of watercolour/blended nails that are fairly easy for anyone do at home. Studded nails will continue to be popular as they are an easy way to jazz up any manicure.
