Nail Art Tutorial: Two-Tone Dotticure

Nail Art Tutorial: Two-Tone Dotticure

04.29.14

By James

This two-tone manicure is all about the polka dots! Bold dots contrast with pastels for a fresh spring or summer look. Amber from @amcpolish tells us how she put this nail design together.

  • Products and Tools:

    1. Base coat (Duri Rejuvacote) and a fast drying top coat (INM Out The Door)
    2. Pure Ice in Home Run and Kissy Kiss
    3. Finger Paints Black Expressionism
    4. Dotting tool with a large and small end
    5. Clean up brush (Elf Professional Concealer Brush)

*You will also need a small piece of foil or thick paper to put the nail polish on to use with the dotting tool.

    SLIDE 1 OF 4
  • Step 1:

After you've applied your base coat, carefully paint half of your nails with two coats (or until they are opaque) of the lightest color.  Make sure to wait 1-2 minutes between coats.

  • Step 2:

Carefully paint the other half of your nails with the darkest color until it is opaque.

    SLIDE 3 OF 4
  • Step 3:

Put two drops of black polish on a piece of foil and with the dotting tool, make a large dot at the top center where the two colors meet. Alternate between painting large and small dots.  Once completely dry, apply your top coat and enjoy!
