“My mom had just planted a new area of the prettiest pansies, dark on light purple with white running through the middle,” explains Dawn Ebert from @Midnight_Manis. “I couldn’t stop thinking about the gorgeous color combination and had to do a rough interpretation of my own.” Here’s how you can recreate the look:

  • PRODUCTS AND TOOLS:

    • Base coat and top coat
    • Primary color (Dawn used Cult Cosmetics Breakwater)
    • Secondary color (Dawn used Cult Cosmetics The Roxy)
    • Accent color (Dawn used Essie Blanc)
    • Dotting tool
    • Acetone and other clean up tools

    STEP 1:

Mani up! Shape and clean nails and cuticles and get them prepped for painting. Apply a base coat and let dry completely.

  • STEP 2

Paint two coats of The Roxy on four fingers, and two coats of Breakwater on your accent nail. Let dry completely. Fast dry top coat can be used to speed things up here.

  • STEP 3

Using your dotting tool, place 5 dots of Breakwater, spaced into a flower shape. Don't let these dots touch, as pictured. Let dry until at least tacky.

  • STEPS 4-6

    Step 4:
Using your dotting tool and The Roxy, dot on top of your Breakwater dots, toward the inside of the flower and closer together than the first set. These dots should touch. Let dry to tacky.

    Step 5:
Dot a white center to your flower. Let completely dry.

    Tip!
Fill up more space on your nail by doing partial flowers along your nail line.

    Step 6:
Apply your favorite top coat. When applying your first coat, be sure to "float" your brush so it doesn't pick up color and smear your mani.

  • STEP 7

Clean up cuticles and around nail bed using a small brush and acetone. Moisturize, and voila! Pretty purple on purple flowers.
