Nail artist Lexi Martone shows you how to recreate these Laura Biagiotti-inspired nail art designs.
No matter if you like a little bit of nail art or a lot, we have you covered with our “Less + More” column in every issue of Nail It!. For the January/February 2015 issue, we tasked New York-based nail artist Lexi Martone (@leximartone) with creating both subtle and all-out nail art designs based on this “Sheer Delight” Laura Biagiotti gown from the fall 2014 runway. Follow these step-by-steps for the designs!

“Sheer Delight” Minimal How-To

Step 1: Apply base coat. Either apply a very sheer polish color next or leave natural nail showing.

Step 2: Use your preferred white polish to drag different length diagonal lines across the nail and create the “French tip.”

Step 3: Clean up any mistake lines with a small brush dipped in acetone.

Step 4: Fill in bottom portion of nail with white polish.

Step 5: Use silver acrylic paint and a thin brush to draw the single houndstooth.

Step 6: Seal with top coat.

Step 5: Fill in space around outlined negative sections with white polish.

Step 6: Use silver and gray acrylic paint to draw the houndstooth shapes, adding small stitching details inside each one.
