Get the Look: Chelsea King Shares the How-To For Our Alternate Cover!

By semick

Our cover artist Chelsea King walks you through the steps of a simpler version of the alternate cover nails.

It started with this dress.

Because our January/February 2015 cover artist, Chelsea King (@chelseaqueen), is a maestro of translating runway looks to nail art, we tasked her with producing two different catwalk-inspired cover looks. This dress by Bibhu Mohapatra struck a chord with King; the mash-up of a graphic black-and-white pattern with feminine blue roses created a tension that King couldn’t wait to reproduce on nails.

Of course, doing your own spin on a runway look requires a few twists. King decided to reverse the black-and-white pattern to allow the nails to pop more for the cover.

She then places blue roses on only a few nails, which made the blossoms seem even more prominent.
